if i pull my 18# spring in the ATR External wastegate and install a 14#, will my chip controled boost levels be less, the same or uncontrolable ?
i need to run between 17-14 psi boost to stay knock free on 91 octane and the chip (92thrasher) wants to run 20-17psi. i have been running 15psi in all gears with a manual check valve set up. it would be nice to to let the chip run 17,16,15,14psi in 1,2,3,4th gears. of course this would be for the street.

would changing to a weaker spring do the trick?

i think it would be like loosening the adjustment rod on a intenal gate. but i dont know for sure.

Andrew
(trying to run less boost.....new for me)

thanks in advance

I have a THDP and ATR ext. wastegate also. I am bypassing the boost solenoid(controlled by the chip) And from what I understand, the chip doesn't control boost unless your plugged into the boost solenoid on the passenger side valve cover.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

i would like to start using the solenoid again so i can let the chip get higher boost in the lower gears.

Take a look at the photo link in my sig. In my Grand National album, you'll see a picture near the bottom of how the stock solenoid could be used to control an external waste gate. The stock solenoid is in the center of the pic. with it's wires attached, and there's also a manual bleeder in there just to get the base setting where you want it.

looks good dave!....i'll have to give that a try. i already have all the hardware. i also saw something about the "y" restrictor size reducing the boost in an old post.

thanks for the info!
