Fan woes...

Ok guys, here it goes:
When I bought my car, the fan would function as it should. Fan would come on when the engine became hot and stay on even after I shut the ignition off. About 3 months ago, the fan would shut right off as I removed the key from the ignition but it would run when the engine was running or when I had the ignition/guages in the "on" position so it didn't bother me too much. Recently, the fan won't come on at all and it even caused my car to overheat once. I just bought a new delay relay and 2 new high/low relays but I haven't installed them yet. Could these be the culprits? One of my friends told me it might be the fan switch (?) on the drivers side firewall. Whats the function of this switch and where exactly is it located? The only mods I have done to the cooling system is a 160 thermostat and fresh hoses and coolant mix. I'm going to be replacing the radiator soon but I doubt thats an issue. Most likely the relays are the problem. There is no fan switch that I know of on the drivers side fender. The relays are on the drivers side fender. The "switch" he may be talking about is the water temp sensor in the intake manifold. That I guess could be it, but less likely. If you turn on the A/C does the fan kick on in high? That should tell you if it's the relay, or the temp sensor. I assume there is a fuse for the fan under the dash, but not really sure right now. Besides the fan and wiring those are the only culprits I can think of. But I would bet that it's the relay.

My electronic climate control took a crap on me as well I have no control over it, none of the buttons work so I can't put the A/C on high to check. Im assuming there's a fuse for that too, So I'll check that and the fan fuse. Do you know why the powermaster system is also connected to the Delay Relay? Thanks for your help, Gary

The delay relay to the power master is another example of GM's INFINITE WISDOM. You know, the wisdom that has them getting pretty much (except the vette) out of the performance car industry all together these days.......

There is also a way of just grounding a connector to get the fan to come on with the relays, but I don't remember which connector that is. But if you already have the relays, just replace them. It only takes a few minutes, and is most likely the problem....
