Anyone have any info on these? They came with a Federal Mogul rebuild kit. Are they better/worse than a stock graphite or FelPro 1000???

Thanks

What is the part number of the "black" headgaskets that came in the kit???

I had a set of the 8723pt on my other motor, and while they did last 30000 miles(blew out between #1 and #3, comletely melted fire ring), it turns out that they were actually the headgaskets for a NA motor...

If they are the 9441's, then they are the direct factory replacement for the stock 86/7 head gasket...

Ahhhhhhhhhhh SH*T! Just put the motor back together. I guess I'll have to repull the heads and get the CORRECT gaskets.

Thanks a mill

DOH!!!!!

BTW, in my case, it was a hotair motor, that was regularly and very often thrashed, detonated, overboosted, etc., and still lasted 30k miles before the fire ring burned up between #1 and #3...

Glad to hear that you are correcting it in time before something major happens to it...In my case, it probably would've been worse with an stock intercooled motor/turbo with more dense cool air giving more cylinder pressure and horsepower than what I was making...FYI, I managed a 14.08 @ 98 on about 22# boost on a mostly stock 85 GN with a 2.08 60' time, with the wrong head gaskets...

hmmm...Now I'm going to have to check what the thickness is on those 8723 headgaskets to see if I actually increased compression on that motor because I was never able to run more than about 15# boost on 92 oct pump gas without detonation...Just for curiosity's sake...

BTW, the stock factory head gaskets are still available seperately and ARE NOT discontinued...The factory head set(head gaskets, intake gasket, and valve cover) has been discontinued as a complete set but a few should still be available, according to my local Buick dealer where I buy my parts from...

Jim, maybe I can help you. I checked my thickness of the FelPro "black" and it was .75

The FelPro "blue" was .50.

Stock Graphite was .73
