DOH!!!!!
BTW, in my case, it was a hotair motor, that was regularly and very often thrashed, detonated, overboosted, etc., and still lasted 30k miles before the fire ring burned up between #1 and #3...
Glad to hear that you are correcting it in time before something major happens to it...In my case, it probably would've been worse with an stock intercooled motor/turbo with more dense cool air giving more cylinder pressure and horsepower than what I was making...FYI, I managed a 14.08 @ 98 on about 22# boost on a mostly stock 85 GN with a 2.08 60' time, with the wrong head gaskets...
hmmm...Now I'm going to have to check what the thickness is on those 8723 headgaskets to see if I actually increased compression on that motor because I was never able to run more than about 15# boost on 92 oct pump gas without detonation...Just for curiosity's sake...
BTW, the stock factory head gaskets are still available seperately and ARE NOT discontinued...The factory head set(head gaskets, intake gasket, and valve cover) has been discontinued as a complete set but a few should still be available, according to my local Buick dealer where I buy my parts from...
