I've got a cutout pipe but never open it. Anyone modify a test pipe by putting in a flexpipe in it? I think it there would be a benefit to having some flex in the systems. All the new cars have a flex in them somewhere. If you've done it and have a picture please post it! Thanks.

I've tried several different type and styles but most of mine were on the cross over or down pipe on some cheap china headers none lasted over a week before blowing out scared the hell out of be though a boom when off or engine blow I thing the heat and boost was just too much

Pronto, I did that about a year or so ago. Used a 3" dia turbo rated unit. Something like that. No issues.

I've got a ss accordian flex with ss mesh over it, 4" piece. It's 6" overall. The problem I'm running into is the pipe at the flange is oval to I can't get the flex close to the flange. I'ld like to have the flex about 1" from the flange so I'll have enough space for the expanded side to go over the dp. I suppose I could get a cheap pipe expander and try to round out the pipe close to the flange. Jerryl, if you got a pic I'ld like to see it.

A bit embarrassed to show the pic. :-( I used a test pipe, cut it and used the oval end and a piece of the straight end. It was a very tight fit, more of a press fit to the flex piece. Tacked them on (which is when i realized my TIG skills suck) and bolted it in place. No leaks, and still on the car.

The tack weld does not really show , so here it is. lol.

No problem, that's pretty much how I'm doing mine. I'm going to use a stepped lap band clamp for the dp side. The dp is going straight into the flex. My only concern at this time is the opening at the 4 bolt flanges. The Hooker cat back flange opening is smaller so there is a step.

Ignore the welds. Lol

Is that a 3" cat back exhaust? The Hooker is 2.5" . I'm not happy openings are not the same size for a smooth flow.

Before I had a wideband my THDP to dump connection was my flex. I just left them as a slip fit.

Last year I thought it'd be a good idea to seal it up so I wouldn't get leaner readings at low speed. After I get a good baseline with the tuning I might remove the clamp and see if it screws with the O2 sensor.

OK, here's what I got, at least for now. I plan on getting the rear slip joint welded to eliminate that strap clamp. I want to keep the front one so the dp can easily removed from above.
