Can anyone suggest a way to find the problem with an electric fp guage that reads low and flutters constantly? The related components all have less than 300 miles on them and they are: Autometer elect. gauge, Walbro 307 hotwired, fuel filter, fp reg., 009's. Runs good/afraid to go WOT until its corrected. I'm not sure where to start without buying more new parts to replace the new parts.

No. The sending unit is the matching autometer unit. I've also checked the obvious loose wires, grounds, etc. and all seems OK. My guess is the gauge or sender is faulty but I don't want to buy a new one and find out it was a pump or something else. The car sits for a couple of weeks or more sometimes as I am working on too many areas at a time.

I had a problem with the autometer sending unit on my electric gauge....when car was hot under hood it would read really low....got a replacement from autometer and all was well..verified it was the sender by hooking up a snap-on kit

Buickpower: I can't remember but I think the pulsator was not installed. I put in the pump according to the directions whatever they are. It's a Walbro 307. The fact that the motor seems to run normally I really suspect and hope its the gauge system or bad fuel filter.

Jbenn911: Pardon my ignorance but what exactly is a "snap-on kit"?

Thanks for responding guys. I don't know how to test any of the components without buying new ones and replacing them one at a time until you find the culprit.

Sorry ! I borrowed a snap on fuel pressure testing kit from a buddy at a local shop...basically an overpriced pressure gauge on an extended piece of hose..LOL..Could probably do the same with with any of the small gauges people sell on here..

Thanks again. I may find a cheap gauge and kluge something together. That seems to be the most obvious place to begin troubleshooting.
