Just curious if a check valve is absolutely needed in an aftermarket fuel system.

Does the pump get to pressure quickly enough on startup that they aren't required? Or will it cause a really annoying long crank condition if i skip the check valve?

I'm running an A1000 pump from a sump in my stock fuel tank if it makes a difference.

Any opinions would be welcome

TIA

Tony

Check valves are not needed. In a race car they can be thought of as a (minimal) restrictor to flow. I don't run one on my fuel system with an SX pump and filter. When I turn the key to ON, I pause for ~2 seconds until the fuel pressure gauge jumps up to static fuel pressure and then turn the key.

I agree i think im going to leave mine out:) I have the aeromotive check valve and it is junk anyways.
