Is there a difference between sending units in a car with analog dash compared to a digital dash? thanks

Yes.... the ohm range between full and empty are significantly different between the two... (dont remember the exact numbers, but it's here if you search)...not interchangeable if you want the gauge to read correctly....

Modifying my answer with caveat.... both senders should show near zero ohms empty... when full: analog=120 ohms, digital=80 (or 90) ohms... they CAN be interchanged, but won't scale the same full, and as level decreases.... here's what John Spina (Casper's Electronics owner) commented in one thread (last post):
