Mother in law
As for the future mother-in-law, I don't know what she drives but a sledge hammer to her windshield would get the point across. Sieriously you should report it to her insurance no matter how little the amount of the repair is. Her puishment is higher insurance rates. If she has insurance. In Maryland where I live it is required by law for every car to at least have liability insurance, That's what insurance is for. Get her company to pay and your rates don't increase, just hers. I don't know how old she is and I hate to open this can of worms but here goes. I believe every driver in the US over the age of 65 should be required to take a driving test every year. Old people statistically are just as likely as a 16-25 year old male to have an accident. Older people get insulted at the idea because they have egos just as big as young males and feel they are superior drivers because of their "experience" they've had. Who here hasn't been stuck behind an old person doing 40mph in a 65? Or has seen how they wonder in and out of lanes. The thing that really sets me off is they feel they aren't required to use turn signals. Like everybody else is just supposed to know when they want to turn or change lanes. Just venting anyhow, no offense to anyone.
As for the tranny, check for a stuck or misadjusted TV cable. If they are both good it may be a governor problem, or a number of other things. If you're not a hardcore tranny guy save yourself the aggrevation and go to a local reputable tranny shop. I learned that the hard way too many times. I try to do a simple job and end up paying more to have it fixed than if I just left it alone and went to a pro.
