i beleave i got a new ground wire with a hot wire kit i got from caspers. i did not know the gas tank had a ground. its never had one as long as i have owned the car (about 15 years). what does it do, and where do i put it ? thanks in advance.

if memory serves correctly, the hotwire kit (assuming caspers kit, not a homemade hotwire) has a ground strap with a clip on one end and a bolt hole on the other. attatch the clip to the edge of the tank and drill a hole in the frame for the other end. i did this on the drivers side of the tank since its closest to the frame there. i know this is common sense, but..... DONT DRILL THE GAS TANK! use the clip end on the tank!

as for what it does, well, it grounds the gas tank. i dont know why though. maybe someone else can chime in?

Here is what i did

I clipped the ground strap to the left corner of the tank {as your looking at the back of the vehicle} and right by the left rear bumper mount was a small drilled hole, {it looks like it may have been a wiring harness clip hole} i just added a small bolt, nut ,and lock washer. I opened the relay bracket hole up with a uni-bit and used the left tank strap nut to hold the relay down also. :D
