Has anyone ever restored the GNX honeycomb wheels. I had the wheels cnc'd and clearcoated and look great. I think they powdercoated the centers. All this was about one year ago.
The fronts are now turning a flat balck due to the brake dust (yes I have a shield). I was thinking about painting the black centers and wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions...or experience in restoring the wheels so they look good for the long haul.. Thanks in advance..

Joe,

The GNX honeycombs can be a bear to keep clean!

We get our supplies here:

Having the right brush with these wheels is a must!

Also, since brake dust is the main source of grief, we use really high quality Ceramic brake pads to prevent 90% of that.

Two Lane....
Thanks for the two leads...I am going to try the ceramic brake pads and and detail the heck out of the front wheels with one of those brushes.. If they do not come out, I am going to try this black paint I found in Pep Boys called Brake Caliper Black..

I like the GNX wheels better then stock so I guess I will put up with the greif...

Thanks Again - I bookmarked both those sights...

just wondering, but did you have these wheels custom made? because you said you had them CNC-ed, and that kinda makes it sound like they are custom wheels... so if they are, are they the exact same thing as the GNX wheels? if so, i must ask.. HOW MUCH?!?!?!?! i want a set...

You can pick up a set of 4 wheels from 400-600 bucks. Ebay.
I paid about $120 per wheel to be CNC'd (the aluminum rim), polished and the centers repainted. I would not get the clear coat done if I were to do them again. My fronts were just left polished and the rears were clear coated. The clear coting has dulled after one year and there is a noticable difference.
