Got a Dumb Import

Ok so today I come home from school to see some friends. Well in town I stop to get gas(some good BP 87) and get some food at Arbys. After filling up then going through the drive through I pull out to the exit. Accross the road is a Subaru Impreza 4-door (late 90's) Biright yellow with Stickers Wing and fart can. Claiming somethign liek OZ imports or something. We both pull out from opposit sides of the road, and I am behind him at the red light.
I Rev to show him his car is a puss mobil and he revs back. LOL, I htink this is goign to be funny.
So light goes green, nothign. But traffic starts to clea so I get in the left lane and pull beside him at about 40mph. I slip it into 3rd and let him pull about a 1/2 car ahead and then I pop it to let him know to go, then he drops it, so do I.
At about 70mph I had pulled a car on him and we shut it down.

Wow, a 93 Escort GT 5-speed(1.8L DOHC) with only a open filter and intake porting smacked his ass. Oh and he had his GF with him. What a joke, its my daily driver beater with 150,000 Miles on it. Oh and I was eating my curly fries the whle time.
Just think if I had the Turbo.

Isn't that a Mazda engine? I know the 1.9L SOHC is.

I remember my 89 Escort GT. After owning an 87 Mitsubishi Precis LS (Hyundai Excel) I thought I was in the Blue Flame.

ANyway, that car was actually no slouch. It was a 1.9 EFI HO 4 banger. Had great pull in first gear, then it just died. (5 speed)

So to extract the best out of it, I had to take it beyond the red line in every gear. When I did that it was quite impressive...for a Ford. I remember a race I had against an early 90's Honda Del Sol from a toll booth on the parkway. I eeked it out by a car length or two up to about 80mph when we both backed off. That was merely a race against drivers more so than cars, because I tortured the GT to achieve even that. I refused to upshift until I saw his nose come down first. I had a couple hundred rpm's left in each gear by the time he shifted. That's what won it for me.

I guess that car really was a bit of a dog compared to todays cars. But it was fun to beat on, lasted me over 100k trouble free miles till my wife totalled it.

that escort engine only has 132 horsepower stock and weighs near 24-2500 so that impreza must have been sooooo slow.....what kind of car were you drivin?

I dont know how much HP my car has or what the 1/4 mile time would be on it. All I know is its got an air filter change and an open element, and some intake porting. I would put an exhaust system on it, but I cant stand the sound of loud a$$ 4cyl's
