First off, I have a 1985 GN. Yesterday, when I put it in reverse and gave it gas, the car just reved and it didn't move. Drive still works, but no reverse. Right there I would think tranny right away, but the weird part is when the car is of or even turned off, if I put it in neutral, I can push it foward, but NOT backward. Any idea why it would do this?

Man tough one..

Try this and report. Put car in low gear get on it to about 30 mph then let off and see if it "decompresses" meaning slows the car down with decompression of motor.
That will tell us status of low/reverse clutch. I am kinda wonderin if they are not toast and welded together. Let me get this staright, it is basically locked up going backwards, motor running or not? correct?
hrmm this is going to be a good one. Chris, greg, Mark? any other ideas? Anything else not working in the trans like 3rd gear? Reverse consists of third and low on with forward clutch released.
The cant push the car thing is what has me.
