Mine is rusty. Need to replace it. Anyone have experiences replacing that strap from the firewall to the rear of engine block? Where can I get a replacement strap?

I personally would email Mike McCoy and/or Brian Weavy and ask for a good/mint original used ground strap.

You could also try the dealer for a new one, if available.

If stock appearing is not a big issue you could do what I would do if in a hurry. 10-12 gauge stranded wire on two ring terminals and leave 2" of slack in it for flexing.

The salvage yard is full of them that are identical to the Buicks.

is it ok to use a thicker gauge ground stranded wire?

Looks like the ground strap from the engine block to firewall is a PITA to remove. Lookse like the coil pack is in the way if you try to unbolt the bolt holding the strap to the block. Did anyone have to remove the coil pack and module to replace the wire?

Sure you can go larger gauge wire. Just make sure it is flexible enough. It's not a tie down strap. ;)
