looking quick in the postons catolog, i see they advertise GM replacement headgaskets and there is a different part # and price diff between 85 and the 86-87 gaskets

i am using a hot air turbo riviera block in my 87, any reason why i can not use the 86-87 GM gaskets???

thanks

head gasket

84-85 head gasket----steel shim--.018 compressed
86-87 head gadket----composite--.060 compressed

In 86 GM dropped the deck heighth on the block to allow for the thicker gasket.

If I were you I would use Felpro 1000-----.040 compressed

The .060 might raise your intake a little too much, throw the ports out of alignment more so than the thinner ones.

I personnaly don/t like the 85 gasket as you are likely to blow a piston first.
