My headlights are not working, all I have done was take the dash apart to fix the problem with the light bulbs for the blinkers on the dash everything works good now, except for my headlights If I put the high beams on both work but when I put on just the lows on nothing. When I turn the key on with the twilight on, the dash lights are on but no lows, and when I turn off the car the dash go off in one minute but still no low beams was there something I may have hit or is it just a fluke thing that the headlight switch went bad. I tried to use a jumper wire but no go can anyone help me try to find this problem.

Thanks Patrick

Hi,
Twilight sentinel problems, eh? I don't know the intricacies of this system.I would guess, however, that your problem has something to do with the headlamp switch. You have to pull the bezel to get at the instrument cluster, and during your struggles,a connector may have been jarred.I'll bet you pulled the headlamp switch connector partially loose. Just a thought.....

I'll bet you put the sockets back in the dash wrong. The Dimmer and the twilight sentinel both have the same socket except one is black and one is white and I don't remember which one is which. If you've had the dash apart it's easy to put them back in the wrong socket (ask me how I know.

I have tried all of that switched them around and nothing but the thing is I never touched them form the start all I did is fix my turn signal bulb.

When I turn on the high beams all four come on, but the low beams do not come on at all with the headlight switch is thier a headlight relay and if so were is it located, and the only other thing I can do is buy a new headlight switch.

Thanks Patrick

Hi,
I'm sure there is a relay in this circuit, and it must be in the dash area. You must have nudged it, or as I previously said, the switch got jarred. I am sorry I don't have better info for you. When I reread my post, I am very unhappy that I have to be so vague.I wish you Good luck!

Headlight relays are under the hood not the dash. Check your grounds you may have knocked one loose.

Sounds like the headlight dimmer switch itself or the wiring to the plug for it.

Low beam output is not working.

Tan wire out of it on an 86-87 car is the low beam output.

Yellow wire feeds the switch, light green is the high beam output.

If you get nothing on the tan wires it's either there or at the C100 firewall connector for the low beam tan wire, terminal E2 there and tan wire color on both sides of that big connector.

Only relay on that car for the headlights is in the twilight box.

If they don't work with the headlight switch manually (NO TWILIGHT CONTROL IN USE), it's most likely in the hi/lo beam switch or wiring there.
