hey guys.. i just bought a set of those 'diamond cut' h4656 headlight housings ..

anyway the kit, for $50, comes with:
2 glass housings
2 55/60w bulbs
2 peanut lights that go inside the housing too.
and 2 wiring adapters, because i guess the H4 bulbs are wired different than the sealed beam bulbs.

So anyways, my problem...

the high beam light inside the car never goes off. it is either on dimly, or on brightly, and the inside two headlights stay on either way, i figured this could probably overheat my wiring, so i just unplugged them for now to be safe.

if anyone can tell me how the stock headlight plugs are wired, like out of the 3 prong connector, i believe there are 2 beige wires, one black, and one green.

now what SEEMS to be going on when the high beams are left plugged in, is that on the new bulbs, the low beam and the high beam filiments light up, not just one or the other.

anyone know what to tell me? thanks guys, im about to go outside with a volt meter and try figure some stuff out.

if anyone has gone through this before, let me know! thanks guys!

alright, i figured something out...

with no lights plugged in, the FACTORY plug is wired as follows

low beam--> | _ | <--ground
high beam ----/\

when i plugged in the DS headlight i checked the other factory plug and it showed 12v on high and low circuits at the same time.. ?

I have H4's in my car and if you don't wire the adapter plug correctly that can happen.

My adatpers had individual wires so I could put them into whichever slot I wanted to in the factory socket.

Double check your wiring. Your diagram sounds correct.

Maybe the bulbs common isn't where you think it is.

ALRIGHT!
thanks alot man you helped me figure this out. i never thought it was the adapters because they were supposed to be right, but it was! here is how it was.

looking straight into the connector:

factory: Low | high | ground

the wiring adapters were like this
low | ground | high

and i just swapped the outside two to:
high | ground | low

and now everything works GREAT

thanks man, i probably wouldve tried a million different OTHER things before checking what i thought was done right from the 'factory'
