Heat/ac door rod

Hello, I was messing around trying to adjust the rod for the ac/heat door and I accidentally push it in too far and now I can't even see it. I think I heard it fall down and I was wondering what the best way to get it would be? Do I have to remove the heater box on the passenger side of the engine compartment? Thanks for your help

You should be able to retrieve it if you take the top portion of the FW Box off. Might have to remove the Heater Core out of the way, but the entire box does not need to come off.

If it fell done, then the plastic piece that holds the rod was either missing, or broken as it should not allow it to fall down. Might want to take a look at it.

Yeah it seemed like it pushed in very easy as if nothing was holding it in place.
