Heater/cold air Blower motor

Do these motors commonly die? Is it hard to replace? Can one from a different vehicle be used in its place? I have an 85 regal and have no air being blown into the car. Not air conditioning just air.

Yes, no, and yes. To test the blower motor, pull the purple wire off that sticks out of the top of the blower. Then run a wire from the + battery post to the now exposed terminal on top of the blower. If it runs, it's good. If it does run, check the blower relay(silver box to the right mounted on firewall). Of course, check your fuse first.
