looking for knowledgable buick specialist near the central geargia area... we have replaced, crank sensor, cam sensor, control module, coil pack, and relay... freshly build motor... need help...

There are no Turbo Buick specialists here in Central GA to my knowledge and I've been into these cars since '86. Prior to 2-3 mths ago, I would have recommended one to you but feel like I got shafted pretty well. Wouldn't want to subject you or anyone else to what I went through. Sorry to say but you may have to tow to either Atlanta or FL.

PM me if you want more info or want to chat.

Check all the fuses, there are 2 or 3 for hte ecm, and make sure you attached alll the grounds on hte back of hte head intake area
also are you sure teh cam sensor is adjusted properly?

cam sens

You can move the cam sensor around to see if it will crank. Check the orange ecm wire at batt...it may be disconnected. Is it firing?
Fuel inj pulsing? Fuel pump running? You can pm me for my phone # if you need to.

know any price range? i am about ready to tow at will... the car has injector pulse, fuses are good, ing/coil are new an fine, fuel pump is fine, grounds are good, cam sensor has been toyed with an adjusted to postons specs an still no fire... relays are good too... we ordered a new plug for the crank sensor which has been replaced so hopfully that will help us out but im still looking for some buick shops, an may need one for this car if we failt o get it operational... it has been down for like 6 months for a rebuild that was supposed to take a month... its a project me an my neighbor (GM certified mechanic) have taken on... an well we are cluless...

?

Are the plugs actually firing? What is the fuel psi? After sitting a good while I would have to pull the up pipe off and squirt a little gas in the intake for it to crank. Found my fuel psi was very low.

not sure exactly what the fuel psi is but it is their we have the pressure guage on the rail an can even smell it when it tried to crank an no there is no spark from the plugs...

mmmmm

You need to check the crank sensor again. That will cause no ign.
Was the clearance set correctly? Is it a gm sensor? The new coil pack or module could be bad, thats happened before.

coil aan module have tested good an were replaced an the new ones are good... we are currently waiting on a plug from atlanta an hoping it will fix or help lead us to somthing that will fix this disaster...

I'll vouch for Benny as well. He's worked on my TTA before and my old T. Numerous friends TR's as well.

I have some spares off the car if you want to try? I have a spare crank sensor and Type 1 coil pack. Other stuff too that might be helpful. Also, a buddy in Byron has the cam sensor tool if that would help as I'm sure he wouldn't mind loaning it and maybe even us taking a look?

Check out Steve Wood's website as he has alot of great info there that might help you too with the no crank problem: www.vortexbuicks-etc.com

actually we just got a crank sensor today an well i dident get a call from my friend who was supposed to be trying it on the car, so i guess it dident work i will more then likely be heading to bennys either this week or next. he can expect this thing soon... it has stumped us for the last time...

o an we have replaced the crank sensor twice so i am sure thats not it. camsensor has been replaced also. so as i said it has us scrachin our head even after i have taken it to the shop. so we are looking for somone like benny. thanks for the help guys i wil tell yall the verdict when i find out... if i find out...

Sounds like a good approach to me. Sometimes you just have to back away especially with the effort ya'll have put into getting it going. Make sure you have a scan tool when you get it back to monitor everything. PM me your number if you want to show it off and get together once you get it back. I owned an 86 GN for 12 yrs that I bought new but pimp in a different style and color now!

IGNITION MODULE!!!!!! ordered a GM unit an it cranks right up...

all those hours for one part.

ahhh

Never trust the parts store stuff!

:D

Heh heh......Buicks definitely are a love 'em/hate 'em type of car. When it runs right, you love it to death......when it starts throwing a tantrum/not running right, you want to push it out in the street and set it on fire. I got lucky with both of my GNs....they were very well behaved and rarely gave me any problems, especially the 86 I had as a daily driver. My 87 didn't get driven often enough to really worry about it acting up. I'm actually looking forward to getting another turbo Buick though.....I miss the boost....lol.

yea it is loveing the part about me hating it, i went to pick it up from the shop where my friend works, an asoon as i walked in he had jus got back from puttin gas in it, an it would not crank, it had burned up the started an it was running hot.... we fixed the starter an now we gotta fix the fan... i hope to have it tamed by tomorrow...
