I just bought an '84 TR, but i dont know if it is an T-Type or Grand National ? Can it be identifed by the VIN or the trunk sticker?

uuh, not an expert by any means, but the options sheet on the trunk would have the gn code (I don't know what it is). obvious inspection would also be a clue, if its all black with a small rear spoiler on the trunk lid, its a grand national. if its not, its a ttype. if its black and grey with a trunk lid, its a wh1 ttype.

The car is kinda a cobble job ! I think it is a GN. ALL black, decklid spoiler. It has chrome GN wheels and someone also stuck later "intercooled" emblems on it!

I think the option code is WE2. Look for that on the RPO sticker on the trunk lid. HTH!:D

If it is an 84 GN, it should have the leather Lear Seigler (sp?) interior, the "Grand National" tag on the filler above the glove box, the WE2 on the option sticker on the trunk lid. The 84 GN interior grey is a darker, sandstone color than the 85-87 GN interiors.

Make sure that the VIN on the RPO sticker in the trunk and the vin in your dash match. If they don't then there is a problem.

If you have original Lear Seats, there absolutely is no source for original seat covers. I just had my front buckets done to be original and it cost six hundred some dollars.

Hope this helps!

help id 84 tr

i have a 84 tr withthe same seats ( leger seger) i am going to jax in october to get the seat covers. he is starting to make them then. the cost is 700 for both front seats and 1,000 for front and rear seats and also a hood liner don't know how much for that.
the hardest part is figuring out the vacuum lines. it took me 8 hrs to do. the brackets are easy. if the engine and trans are out bolt them together and bolt the down pipe to the turbo and leve the starter out till engine and trans are bolted in. if have any more questions write me at BIGBLOCK53@HOTMAIL.COM
