I'm stumped. 2hrs in and out of ideas...

Got this 90 Ranger towed in with 2.3L, 5-sp, broken timing belt.

Tried impact. No deal. Borrowed an impact in case mine was getting weak. Mines stronger.
Still won't break that bolt @ 135psi. Torque spec is 125-175 lb/ft. I'm thinkin this one's on the high end!

Soaked in multiple applications of PB Blaster, No Help.

Put it outside and chocked the drive wheel w/ 60psi in it, Trans in R. Rachetted against bolt, used long wrench to hold iron pulley spacer/ belt guide from backsliding during multiple turns. Drive wheel climbed front chock, readjusted rear tighter. Can't get this stupid motor to quit turning with the bolt.

Don't like idea of possibly buggering flywheel, don't have proper tool for holding it.

Got any other ideas????

You probably already tried this but turn the impact to CW and try to tighten it a little then CCW to loosen. Also heard a really neat thing about using transmission fluid as a penetrating fluid, never tried it but heard people swear it it the stuff. Another trick we have used sounds a little weird but put a cylinder at ATDC on compression stroke and remove spark plug and stuff a lawn mower starter pull rope in there. The piston will travel up jam against the rope and stop the engine from turning over.

put a heavy duty socket and breaker bar on the bolt.

then simply set the handle up away from the floor and anything breakable.

crank the starter.

thats how ive always done it. works about 9 out of 10 times.

I was almost there! I tore an old starter up that way one time tho, and since this isn't mine, I didn't wanna chance what that flywheel or starters condition's are. I just want it to drive away!;)

Mr. JPratt, THANK YOU!!!

I can't believe I didn't remember the old rope trick! Nuthin to it!!! Finally gonna put it back together after comin in to thank you guys!!!!
