I finally got the car starting and running with absolutely no tuning. I went to the track for a little test and tune on Friday night. The car seen the track sine last year March.

My tire setup are 16" Weld pro-stars w/BFG comp t/a 245/50/16. I had 35psi in them. My fuel pressure was at 39psi static with about 18psi of boost. i'm using 92 octane in the tank at 3/4 full. I had my art car TC where the spare tire sits. :p btw I'm not running the TLDP yet because I havent had the time to weld on the deltagate so I'm running off just the stock downpipe, nothing more. Also I have NGK UR5s w/ .030 gap and a Kenne Bell chip. Our track had also redone our 60ft launch pad so it's still being broken in. On that 1st run, I did a dry burnout...staged in. The Vac brakes couldnt hold nor could I hold any boost off the line. the rear came off spinning and the after lag kicked out...the rear broke out again. this resulted in this crappy run:

r/t - .704
60ft - 2.570
et@594' - 9.404
1/8 et - 10.026@72.33
1/4 et - 15.563@87.71

I let the car cool down for about 30min. A friend came over and told me to let out some air from the tires. I brought them down to 20psi on each side. I've also upped the fuel pressure to 42psi static and lengthend the actuator rod one full turn. I did another dry burnout and I still couldnt hold boost on the line. I got a little over anxious on the stage lights and triped the lower stage light trying to hold on. I think I mustered 1psi. I didnt really pay attention to the boost gauge. same story off the line...it got squirly on and off the new 60' pad and the end result was:

r/t - .672
60ft - 2.554
et@594' - 9.447
1/8 et - 10.71@72.10
1/4 et - 15.637@87.34

This time i cruised along..talking with friends and the car cooled down for more than an hour. I brought fuel pressure up to 40psi static. I left the actuator rod alone this time. Again I never paid attention to the boost gauge so I dont know how much psi I ran on the last one. Again...spinning on and off the 60ft. I also let off a little between the 1/8th and 1/4th marker but got back on it. I couldnt feel any lost of momentum or any gain  but I got this:

r/t - .553
60ft - 2.500
et@594' - 9.263
1/8 et - 9.878@73.15
1/4 et - 15.347@89.09

Since it's last visit, the car had bested mid 14s at some 9x mph. It ran on it's quickest run on a friends set of 275/50/15 BFG DR w/18psi in them, if I can recall. Also...on the fastest run...I was running 1:4 xylene and 92 pump. the car's fuel setup was entirely stock. the only upgrades I had at the time were the coolant bypass, Kenne Bell chip, Ramchargers Electric Fans, and 15psi of boost. The other wierd part is...the car was consistant 15.1 at 91-92mph on crappy near bald 215/65/15 w/30psi in them.

Currently the car has these mods done to it:
• CAS Adjustable Billet Aluminum Fuel Pressure Regulator
• Tomco 30lb. Green Stripe Injectors
• Casper's Electronics Fuel Pump Hot-Wire Kit
• 86/87 CCCI Conversion w/Casper's Wiring Kit
• Accel 300+ Race Wires
• NGK UR5 .030 gap
• Kenne Bell Chip
• Modified Throttle Body by Jay Jackson
• K&N Air & Oil Filters
• HRPartsNstuff Polyeurethane Engine and Transmission Mounts
• Pinion Snubber
• Rear Seat Frame Braces
• Front G-Body Diagonal Braces
• GNX #5 Body Mounts
• KYB Gas-A-Just Shocks
• Ramchargers Dual Electric Fans
• 160º Stat
• High Volume Oil Pump/Timing Cover

The things I have on the side and being waited to be installed are my 86/87 ECM and MAF, 10" Art Carr TC w/2800 stall, Lee Thompson's DP, Deltagate and Hooker Duals.

I may be leaving out some details..ask away. I need help getting this baby rockin'! Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long post.

tuning

first off you need to establish a baseline for performance. you need specific data on your base run on boost, fuel pressure, O2 volts, and most importantly knock counts. Once you establish this baseline by starting of with a fuel psi @ 40 +/- 2lbs make your adjustments in boost based on knock counts. run as much boost as possible with '0' knock and then adjust fuel pressure up or down 2lbs at a time to get as lean and mean as possible shootind for '0' knock but no more than 6* of retard. "note" with good fuel you should be able to run leaner at higher boost levels safer. also don't tune with 02 volts they only serve as a tool for measurement of how much fuel you need to get you where you want to be.

The "snubber syndrome" again!

The short times show that there's a good possibility you have the launch, spin, syndrome going for you.
This is caused by a couple things.
1. Engine is fat leaving and cleans up, power goes up, and tires spin.
2. The tires are hit, the snubber hits and by the time the car has launched, the chassis is on it's way up, taking the tires w/ it.. thus tire spin after launch.
Snubbers are for leaf spring cars.. NOT 4 links...
When that snubber hits, it slams the tires into the track, causing a "basketball' effect. It also dis-allows the action of the 4 link...
3. Comp T/A's are NO way a tire to use to establish a baseline for future changes. They are "harder than the back of Superman's head", and do not afford one bit of consistency.
4. Take a look at the rear brakes. Using a line loc for the burnout?? If not, forget the brakes holding after they are overheated due to using the foot pedal for the burnout.:(

Also, look at the ft suspension.. sway bar unhooked or off??

Lotsa things to do before more power becomes a priority!!:D

Have fun!

Back under my rock.......

I dont have any kind of on board scanner for the car yet. I do have a snap on scanner I use for trouble shooting...but it does not have any replay and I cant be looking at my passenger seat watching the scanner for KR or 02 voltage. so some baseline figures wont be available yet till I get my 86/87 ECM and MAF. I do have a scanmaster II but, i was told it wouldnt work with the 85 ECM. or does it?

I didnt know the snubber chould be any hinderance to the rear end. I may remove it and put back in the old one for my next run next week. I still have the front sway bar on...I was meaning to take it off but i havent really bothered with it. I dont have a line-lock yet. All of the Hawaii guys have been telling me to get one but it hasnt hit me to buy one yet. I will...just not yet...though I really should :o to save my brakes. The Comp T/As' suck arse. I couldnt get them to smoke either. My old tires were better and they smoked up real easy.
