I have been having a problem with my engine and I bought the scanmster to help me out .
When I get on my car hard the intake sound like it wants to blow off . I put in a new fuel pump and now instead of doing it around 50 it will do it around 65 70 only when I am on the car hard, no daily driving issues .
What reading should I record . A friend was with me saturday and he said the timing went to 39 .
I dont wont to throw anymore parts at it until I let the scanmaster do its work first

The SM does no "work", as you call it. It's up to you to determine whats wrong and fix it.
A SM is only 1 of several tools you need to keep the heads on that engine.
1. Fuel psi gauge.
2. Oil psi gauge.
3. A real boost gauge.
Readings?
TPS, IAC, temp, maf, knock, O2 readings, crosscounts, b. learn, yadda yadda.
Until you go thru the entire car, find/fix the causes of the "intake blowing off", I'd suggest you stay off the boost.
Better yet, get someone w/ experience to help you...

I completly understand its up to me to figure out what wrong with my car and fix it and I have been smart enough to stay off the boost . In previous threads people with alot more helpful less grumpy dispositions suggest that I first get a scan master to help me start diagnosing what the problem could be .
All I was looking for was helpful next step since I have installed it . What reading to pay attention etc. You gave me a lecture not assistance .
I will take this oppourtunity to thank all of the nice people that have helped me along the way with my car .

No lecture..

intended...There was an intent to make suggestion.
IE: Tool suggestions' readings to look at, and a suggestion to stay out of the boost until you fix the problem.
An experienced TR guy helping, can cut your learn curve down.
If you are aggravated by the suggestions...
Maybe some "nice people" will help..

I am to old to to busy to start some forum flame . I have also seen that you have been helpful in some of your other responses to people . If you can offer my some assistance in fiding out why I have the problem when my turbo kicks in please advise . I have to fix my cars myself .

We responded around the same time . What reading should I record . I have everthing but a real boost guage

I have a neighbor with a 10 second GN . He knows very little though Cotton does most of his work for him . I am very reluctant to have people from forums come to my house . You just dont know who will show up . Do you have someone in NJ that you know willing to help ?

Here is plenty to read. Take your time, there are sections on troubleshooting and tools. Unfortunately you're description of your problem is pretty vague so maybe after some research you can describe better whats going on.

Here is a better discription;

My car is back firing threw the intake when I step on it . It initally did it at 50 put in a hot wire kit and now it does it at 70.00 . As soon as I hear the sound I get off of it . Thank You for the literature and I will read it . I was just looking to see if this is something unique or if others have experienced the back firing . With the hot wire Kit and scan master I a down a nickle . I was told the next step is that I should buy a wires and plugs . I just dont want to spend money in the wrong place .

i had a friend look at the car with me last night . At one point my car had a revelco type anti -theft device . He said I need to get harness that the coil plugs into . Does anyone know the part number ?

I don't know the part # but you can get that from Caspers electronics.

Sounds to me like the cam is worn. Pull the driver valve cover and check rocker movement.

Alarm systems can be a PITA in these cars.
