Hi, new to board just bought a 1987 Grand National had about three days, ran great very strong, wife took it to work to show friends. Should have known better, she calls says it is running funny went picked up the car, donut gasket on exhuast side of turbo blew out, replaced gasket started up still missing, checked spark the two center coils not firing, replaced coil will not even start now. I am now getting spark out of coil, new plugs what do I check next?

check ignition module also check plugs when they weent firing it could of fouled them out also your o2 sensor could have got carboned up from it missing.

The new coil is firing but it still will not start. Also just to be clear on the coil pack on a 87 the wires inside go front side of coil right to left yellow, green, light blue then back side by fire wall right to left long blue jumper to short blue jumpers.

Sorry to hear about this.

Replace the module also. Always replace the coil pack/module as a pair. Costly I know but really the only way to go.

just by chance how about the orange ecm wire this unpluged will keep the car from starting this probably isnt the case but anything is possible with these cars

This might sound crazy but I once had a Wells module and when I hooked the wires from the module up to the coil the way the directions showed the car would not start. I had to reverse the blue and yellow wires and it ran fine.

OK after I noticed that it was getting fire I turned my attention to fuel pressure, it has a external fuel pressure gauge on fuel rail noticed it did not build pressure. So I took gauge off t see if gauge was bad turned ignition on no fuel, cranked it over a couple of times shot fuel across room. Buddy of mine said pump was bad. So I drained tank that was full mind you, dropped tank pulled out pump sent wife to get new pump. Pump gets here noticed it had a pump upgrade to stock looked like a fairly new Walbro pump so I bench tested pump, pump works fine??? put pump back in key ignition pump does not come on??? I took a tester back to fuel relay looks like the green wire coming from up front stay hot all the time. Thier is a red grey and tan wire that do not show power when keyed is this any help?
