turns out I do have another question

I installed the kit and the new spring on my gov. Part throttle shifting is excellent. 1-2 is very firm. But now that I have some WOT runs in, there is an issue. 1-2 seems to be pretty good, about as good as I can expect I suppose. Its better than before. Now, 2-3, it gets up to about 5500 which is where it shifts 1-2 and then it feels like it either jumps out of gear or slips, then over revs the engine to about 6k and then eventually hits 3rd.

I initially tried loosening the TV cable some which didnt help and now i realize that it wouldnt judging by the symptoms. Any ideas?

Just as a recap, The car shifted fine at WOT before I did whatever it was that caused it to have the same symptoms as a thrown gov. spring. When I tore it apart i found the gov spring was still on there (only one spring) so i just swapped out the spring with then new one you sent. I also installed the shift kit figuring what the hell, couldnt hurt while i was down there.

I probably threw in too many variables into the equation didn't I

You have a 2-3 flair, common problem on the 200-4R, be sure it is FULL of fluid, the band clearance is correct, and if it is still a problem you will have to use a new spacer plate and drill the band release hole smaller...

Gotta love those great instructions that come with the PTS kit...

TransGo is almost exactly the same kit, comes with decent instructions, is cheaper, AND it includes a good TV and reverse boost valve...

Pablo, if you are getting a slip on 2-3 shift, more than likely it is due to cavitation, which is common on the 200 4R on hard throttle applications. You can add an extra quart of fluid to verify if it helps or run it with a pressure gauge attached to see if you loose line pressure during the transition between gears. I wouldn't run it with an extra quart as a cure though. The added fluid will cause it to airate. The only true fix is running our pan kit with the bottom feed pick up.

As far as instructions go, our kits come with complete instructions and are easily followed. For those who have trouble understanding them, we are available for questions during business hours and many times on off hours as well if we get e-mail asking a question.

fwiw I did overfill it, as it stands now, its just past the second bend (where it goes straight again) on the dipstick.

Suppose I should put more?

Like i said, it was shifting fine before all of this

Did you put the filter on right with the clip on the VB holding the filter to the bottom of the pan? It's easy to assume the clip is supposed to hook onto the filter, but it's not it just pushes on the top of it.

Well I'll Be... I did exactly that (thought it latched on) whats funny is the filter on there before was just like that, though the tranny was extremely overfilled so im guessing that may have masked the condition. Ill fix that asap.

I didn't think of that one 77. Thanks for the save. Good to see it's a minor thing Pablo.

I didnt know that either..I bet my tranny has the filter under the clip also..holding it up to the valvebody not down towards the pan..Im sure a very common mistake..never have had any flraing problems now though..did before but valvebody repair by bruce fixed that right up..
