I just bought a 85 hot air engine trany wire harness and computer and its on its way but i have a few questions about it. its going in to a 88 GMC S15 Jimmy that has a 2.8 right now. I need to know if i need a engine oil cooler? Is this a odd fire engine? also where the input and output ports are on the rad if i will need another rad? and i have heard that that year of engine has oiling problems is this true and if so should i buy a high flow oil pump? and will my 700r4 trany bolt on to the engine with that bell housing? or am i stuck with the 200r4? and to any ones knowledge do i have to shift the steering column? I dont have any experience with this particular engine or turbo'd engines in general, any help or tips is appreciated.

I can answer some...

No need for an oil cooler

even fire

no on the high volume pump. Run a bigger oil filter like a PF-52 or get an adapter to run a PF-24

200-4r is a great transmission.

It wont hurt to have an oil cooler. 86/87 Turbo Regals came with oil coolers. Its just another way to help keep things cool and better protection.

the 700 wont work on your motor but you can get a V8 or 4.3 v6 700 and a trans adapter if you need a 700 for 4x4 reasons or if you have some other reason to run 700 trans
has a better first gear also
if you set up the trans right (either trans) the linkage should bolt up
