I am pulling my Hot Air motor and tranny out of my 84 T Type to rebuild it. I am thinking of just converting it to an IC setup. My question is, has anybody here done it? If so, how difficult was it? I have already converted the ECM, and gone to an electric fan setup. I also have the lower IC bracket. What is left?

I appreciate any help provided.

Well if you do a seach, you can find a bunch of posts on this question. From all that I've read, converting your existing LM9 hotair motor to an 86/87 LC2 intercooled setup is a real pain in the ass, needing a lot of misc. parts and will generally end up costing you a lot more money and time. If you want an LC2 setup, tis generally easier to just buy a complete LC2 motor and swap them. If you jsut want to add an intercooler kit to your hotair motor, there are a few options. So far as i know noone is currently making new kits, but there have been a few different comapnies who did in the past, and you can find them being sold used from time to time. Or you could fabricate your own setup, which several people ahve done as well. All depends on what exactly youre looking for, and how much time/effort/money you have to put into it, and your mechanical skills I guess. My best reccomendationw ould be to use the search feature on the baord here, as people a LOT more knowledgable than me have weighed in on this many times ebfore when people have asked this same question. Good luck!

I'm interested, lets talk. E-mail me at jacksorroche@cox.net. I am also interested on instructions on how to do the conversion, as well as a guide to what is going to seem like the hardest thing to do, changing out the wiring harness.

actually, i believe Poston is still offering an add on intercooler kit for hotair cars. dont know anyone running such a setup though, so i cant comment on the installation/performance aspects of it
