How many people are running these springs?? The 1" drop kit they sell. Do they lower the car evenly? Or does it lower the front or back higher or lower, like the Eibach kit does.
Does anyone know a good place to get these?

Thanks in advance

I also bought the Hotchkis springs with KYB shocks. Ride is nice and car is level.

Thanks guys

How stiff is the ride? It's not real stiff is it? Im trying to get the best of both worlds. A good ride on the street and good weight transfer at the track. What kind of 60fts are you getting with these springs.

Thanks

Can't tell ya that Chris, never been to the track with the car, yet.
But the ride is good, not too stiff either.

paul

Its not to stiff that when you hit a bump your teeth start to fall off.:D I live in NYC and everyone knows the roads aren't the greatest. As for the 60FT times I haven't been to the track yet so I wouldn't know.

Chris,
Try either Jegs or Summit. I have them and like the other guys, they work fine. Not too harsh. I run Bilsteins with the springs. Only went to the track once. Ran a 13.07 with the setup. That was leaving at 17-1800 rpm. Stock turbo. I think the 60 ft. was pretty crappy. Can't remember, it was '92. 22 lbs of boost. 110 octane. The car now has a bigger turbo and stuff :) but it's not setup for street. It's more like highway and mountain type stuff.

extreme nyc,
This is freaky. I thought those were pictures of my car at first. I have the Hotchkis springs in my car. I just took the bra off a couple of months ago. The color and wheels look the same. The only difference is that I have an '87 and I'm 3000 miles away. Oh, and the hood and GNX louvers aren't on my car. I really like that hood. Is it all fiberglass or just the louvers?

Here's a couple pics of my car:

Turbo,
Is that the 1" drop on your car? I like the way it sits. Nice and even it looks good. It looks kind of low.

Thanks

Chris,
I forgot. My son has done a change or two. :) Those pics are after the change from ALL Hotchkis.

He put the entire Hotchkis rear on the car. Springs and Upper and Lower Control Arms with a link. And the front are GM FBI springs, with exactly one coil cut. He sold the Hotchkis fronts to a friend. He wanted it a little lower in front. It's very subtile. Maybe only 1/2 to 3/4's of an inch lower in front, than the way it was.

With all Hotchkis SPRINGS the car was more level. I like it better the way he made it though!

Moog Spring

Ok this is what I found out from moog. I called there Factory.

The stock rear spring moog#5379 height is 14.786. I then asked moog what is a replacement spring that is close to a 1" drop from the #5379. I have two options:

#6319 3/4" drop from the 5379
& or
#5401 which is a 1-1/4" drop from the 5379.

I will buy one set of these springs ( not sure yet ) and cut my front ones to match. Now I don't have to spend $260.00 on a set of springs only $60-$80. Im not sure how much the 6319 or 5401 cost.

I will let everyone know how it turns out.

Thanks

Turbo,

Nice T! That thing looks mean with that lowered stance! Is that the 85 front spoiler? I also like the color. Is that Dark cherry metallic? Whats the paint code?I like that idea since I have a FM on the car. The hood is fiberglass with hood vents from an older Trans Am.

Chris, supposedly the Hotchkis and Eibach springs are exactly the same (in other words they're both made by Eibach). I have the Eibach Pro-Kit with QA-1 12 way adjustable shocks. The car sits even on both ends and rides great as well. The reason the Eibachs say that it lowers one side more than the other is so the stance is even. Our cars, like most others, sit higher on one end so the make the drop different between front and rear springs to even out the car. Good luck and pics of mine with the Eibachs are in my sig.

extremexnyc,
I'm not near the car right now. But, I think the code is (79). The invoice said Dark Red Metallic. It's an early '87 so some of the '85-'86 colors were still available.

Yup, it's an '85 spoiler. I put it on because of the FM. A trans cooler sits back in the square hole in the front bumper. I have a perforated plate that fits over the hole and matches the bumper, but I take it off in the summer.
