Has anyone removed the windshield out of a G-body? What works best? My windshield in my T-type is cracked so I'm going to take one out of a buddies Monte Carlo parts car. What is the best way to do this? Also, what is the best way to remove the window molding without cracking the plastic clips? Thanks for the help in advance guys. Regards, Nathan

I think it takes special tools to remove the trim and cut
the rubber sealer under the windshield. Very difficult without
the proper tools and know-how.

You can purchase a window trim removal tool from most parts stores. I'm sure KD tools makes them as do others. You can crack the glass removing the trim with the tool if you try hard enough. One backyard way of getting the glass out is by using piano wire and a couple of pairs of vise grips (with the assistance of a coordinated friend). Be careful, work a hole in an accessible place (you can heat a wire with a propane torch if need be) through the sealant to slide the piano wire through and start sawing! With one person on each end working together you can cut a glass out fairly easily. Or you could have a glass shop install a new one for around $200 ;).

You need, and can buy a tool for cutting around the adhesive. It has a handle with a blade that inserts around the end of the shield and another handle attached by a cable to pull it around the perimeter.........or have a glass guy come out and remove and replace with new. ;)

I just had my windshield replaced last week by a large glass shop chain. I had lunch with a friend while it was being done.
Lifetime warranty for $200.00 (they supplied glass too) Unless you done many in the past and know all the tricks it's not worth the trouble or the risk of leaks and breaking your own windshield.
