How hot is too hot?

Wife drove the T up a very steap hill and the water temp went to 250!!!!!! Noticed smoke under the hood. Coolant must had boiled over. But cooled down to 180 with the A/C off going back down. Hope not a blown headgasket .

How hot does it have to get to blow a headgasket?

How far at 250 degrees did she go? How long too?

I went about 5 miles on a 70 degree summer night once when my newly coiled throttle body line burst on me when bypassed after 12 years. That was on a highway with lots of air cooling too, it helped I'm sure.

It went to 240-250 which ain't so good.

Been 15K miles since however.

Well se don't normally look at the guages but just glanced and noticed it was kinda high. I checked the car and seems fine for now drove it around and did not over heat. Thanks
