I was told (way back in the late 80's) that aprox. 10% of the 86 production of GN's got the astroroof. Just over 5,000 GN produced for the 86 model year = just over 500 astroroofs.

As for the astro roof option....when I was doing the research for my book back in 1996-1997 I was in constant touch with people at Buick that had access to certain production numbers. I do have the count for 1987 which is 2,560 got the astro roof option however in that figure of 2,560 that covers All 1987 Regals not just Turbo powered ones. It is pretty safe to assume that most of them would be in the Turbo powered Regals for 1987 as most sales of regular V6 and V8 powered regals were bought by usually older folks and they would not have spent the extra bucks for the roof option nor wanted it. Its rare to see even a regular V6 or V8 powered Regal with T-Tops.

For some reason 1986 numbers are not known at least I never was able to find out. If you got one it is a desireable feature far more desireable than having T-Tops assuming it is the CF5 factory style and not any of the various aftermarket ones.

Its unfortunate, that Buick never set out to keep accurate records seperate for VIN code 7 (Turbo Regals) versus regular powered Regals would have been nice. If anyone does state a number produced it would be nice to know where they got the information from.

On a side note one of the rarest options to have in a 1986 T-Type is tan or gray leather pillow seats.
