Hey hot air guys, was wondering, just for personal knowledge, whats the max boost you can run in a bone stock setup, on 91 oct, before she starts to knock.
What would you run it at, while driving on the streets from day to day. (on 91oct)

9 - 10 on 93? wow, so its like 8-9 on 91 then? what does 8 lbs of boost net a hot air in the quarter? (if you did the typical rear susp. mods, and used good tires)3

Reason I ask is, I'd like to seriously consider a hot air T as a daily driver in the summer, and I want to know what to expect as far as pep is concerned. Its going to be a daily driver, so i MUST resist the temptation to start tinkering with it. I want to buy it, get in it, and go. Period. No performance mods. only the ones that make it reliable, and drive solid. If the car is a 17 second driver on 87 octane, then screw it, ill just go with the other car i have in mind.

I would have to say 14.5 in the quarter maximum. Stock the Hot Airs were 15.o quarter. Good luck and ask ten questions before you open your wallet on your car. Brad

I think (from your writing), if you are REAL honest with yourself, you will find you are NOT going to be able to resisit the temptation of modification. (LOL .... VERY few of us can). You'll be happier with "the other car" since you already have a "taste for boost" from your 87. On 87 Octane (which it sounds like you are going to run), you may run mid 16's on a good day, but who knows. You'll get beat by a lot of ricers, and THAT is when you'll start the mods!
JMHO

Edit:
The "other car" will probably get a lot better gas mileage too!

Stock HA boost is 12. However all cars act differently. My first 84 could run the full 12 no problem. For your 91 octane I would start in the middle at 10 psi and see what you get for KR numbers and 02 numbers. Then dial it in there. My 84 WH1 back in 93 ran 14.83 with just a drop in K&N filter and Hypertech thermomaster chip w/160 stat. Boost was about 12-13.
