How much vacuum should i be pulling?

Because i am pulling between 5.5-6.5 inches of vacuum with a 218 Comp cam at 1000 rpm.

sounds low....I get about 13-14 at 1,000 rpm with my 214

I have a 218-218 and I am on pulling 12 lbs at 1000, not enough for the power brake so I purchased a cannister for the power brake, now it is a little better but not as it was with the factory cam....
