Is it worth the extra 180-200 bucks for the High Volume Front Cover or not?

Depends on if your engine needs it or not. Do you have low oil pressure? If so don't ignore the booster plates when looking for a remedy. HTH james

This is a hot topic. Many say a proper stock sized pump is fine and the HV pump just puts more stress on the timing set and front cam bearing.

I have read a post that claimed the HV pump cam mask problems and that too much unfiltered oil can go thru the engine (even with an oil galley plug out my cold idle pressure was about 65 psi). But then there are mods that prevent that and also start another controversy.

I notice that there are some well respected builders that seem to use the HV pump in their rebuild jobs. Oil volume is a good thing. Even a Pro Stock engine is not running much more than 40 psi, but their very different system flows lots.

I dont have low pressure at all in fact I have never had oiling problems.... Maybe I will just stick with the original pump. Do you recommend changing the shaft and "distributor" gear?
