before you go getting a modded ecm make sure you have low Z injectors ,
55s are available in high Z (12 ohm) as well as low Z
the modded ecm will work with any injectors but at about 150 for a modded and a stock ecm goes for 35-75 (rebuilts arent much more from GMpartsdirect.com part # 1227148 ) if you dont need the modded save your money

you can check the numbers or just unplug one injector and check it with an ohm meter measuring across the two pins

another way is if your current ecm is modded there should be a sticker to let you know it was modded

if you need a modded ecm contact fullthrottlespeed.com , (actually he will modify your working ecm so you need a good stock one ) http://www.fullthrottlespeed.com/itemdesc~ic~050BUECMMOD~eq~~Tp~.htm

Pretty sure its been moded. Seems to run well with the stock ECM though. I have seimens 55lbs injectors. How would I know if they are low or high and how does this effect if I need to mod my ecm????????

the seimens can be high or low
the injectors will have a # on them which will be on one of the flat areas near the top of the injector

the 3172 are the high ( 12ohm and can use stock ecm) http://www.racetronix.com/3172FM.html

the 3102 are low Z ( 2.35 ohm and need a modified driver ecm like full throttle sells )

they both look alike so youll need to read the injector # , or you could remove one of the injector wiring connectors and actually measure the injectors resistance with an ohm meter .

if you have a low Z injector you can in an emergency use a stock ecm and as it will drive the low injectors just but i wouldnt try to go WOT because the stock ecm will overheat and may damage the injector driver trying to operate such a low load . the drivers in the modded ECM are designed to operate with the lower load injectors and will also work fine with high Z injectors
its essentially the same with stereo amplifiers and speakers, most amps will work at low levels with low ohm speakers but dont turn up the volume or youll fry the amp
