How long does it take for the ecm to set idle?

Just a few seconds.
But if you installed a new IAC, you should drive the car. The ECM learns the IAC zero position when the vehicle speed is over 35mph and you coast. If it doesn't get a chance to learn the zero position, the idle will be all jacked up.

Thanks for the info should have the transmission back in tomorrow get it failed in
