I pulled the compressor and drained the old oil. How much oil is needed to reservice?Yes sticking with R12

Thanks

You are supposed to measure what drains out of the compressor and put approximately that same amount back in.
For example, for a Beretta, they say if less than 2 oz comes out, put in 2 oz. If more than 2 oz, put in what came out.
8 oz sounds like way too much but this is an 80s compressor and the Beretta is a 90s.

never thought of it that way,but i put a compressor on my dads 98 trk and only put 2oz in it and it destroyed it. next one we put 8oz in and it still works perfect, been 5yrs

The fill-what-drains idea sounds good unless you started with a low level. To late for that anyway I have no idea how much drained out.
I'm going with 8oz, that compressor is the size of a Vortech supercharger lol. Waiting on oil from Summit.. no stores carry it anymore. Glad i stashed some R-12.

went up into the attic and got the service manual.
Sounds like adding 8 oz would be too much but it's your car.

looks like the manual says 6oz, but i was always told you should add 2oz every time you break the system.
