I am going to install the CK shift kit tomorrow... is this easily doable with the trans in the car? It seems like the hardest part is going to be the boost valves... can those be replaced with the pump in the trans? anybody with experience in doing this? I greatly appreciate any responses. Thanks!

I'm not familiar with this kit, but most of them can be installed without removing the trans.

Yes, the PR/boost valve train can be a pain to remove. Make sure you use some good internal snap ring pliers.

The biggest problem that comes up is getting valves backwards in any of the valve trains/accumulators for a new comer. Not trying to be insulting there. Other concerns are getting the manual valve back in properly (I bent one on a 400 once! :o ), getting the check balls in the right places, getting the wires back in the right places, making sure the seal for the filter gets/stays in the right place, and DO NOT drill the seperator plate holes bigger than recommended.

Where are you located?

I am up in Orland Park, IL.

I actually got my uncle, who is a mechanic, to let me use his shop and he's going to help me today. Like I said, I have CK's manual, so that should be a big help. I have worked on a lot of cars in the past, this is just my first trans experience. It should be interesting.

I appreciate your help, and I will make sure to check all the things you warned me about. As of right now the trans is behind a 307, and I am not going to drill the spacer plate at all. Chris recommended it for only apps over 250 hp. I will be there eventually with a new motor, but the trans will need to come apart before that anyways :)

Thanks again.
