I finally have my motor back together and its time to go back in. I was wondering if anyone had any sucess dropping the engine and trans back in as one unit. I have the hood off and it looks like its possible. Let me know if any of you have done this or am I stuck laying on the floor installing the trans after.
Thanks

James

Mine came out together, so I assume they can go in together. I did not even have to remove the hood to take them out. I think it would be easier to install them together so you dont have to mess with aligning them. That is my plan when my engine comes back.

Just did this on a friend's car....you need to use a leveler because you have to tilt the engine/trans quite a bit to get it in there...only problem we ran into was that we didn't have the leveler positioned correcty and it hit the firewall before we had the engine in far enough to lower on to the mounts...had to put a jack under the trans pan so the leveler could be unhooked in the back...then just pushed engine/trans towards the back...rolling on the jack and it dropped in...

*****Ditto on the leveler and the jack under the tranny to roll it in. I might also add that you may wish to consider leaving the coilpack/module off the car during the installation as it is easy to damage it when trying to move the motor/tranny into position.

Good luck

Another quick question. Anyone have an idea on the weight of the engine and trans together? I want to make sure my leveler can handle both at the same time.

James

It should handle it. I've done it few times with my "lazy susan".

If the hoods off, the coil can stay on you just have to angle the crap out of it. The trans lines can be a pain.

I may be way off but guessing 400-500 pounds engine/trans...just get a minimum 1/2 ton leveler...will be more than sufficient.
