I'm getting ready to install my Turbo 400 tranny. Do I still use the stock setup transmission mount the one that sets out ward on the bracket or can I use a stock chevy one?

You can:
1. modify the stocker to fit. Its a PIA to do this and its never right.
2. buy a modified stocker. There is a chevy vendor who sells it,but cant remember who
3. the best and easiest way. Buy a HR parts TH 400 mount kit. It has all the adapters.
4. swap to a V8 Monte cross member. Then you can use a stock Chebby trans mount.

HTH;)

we always use the stock 2004r mount and crossmember when swapping in a 400.but thats us.the bolt spacing on the 400 mounting pad is the same as a 2004r and the location is the same making it a crossover w/out concerns.the drive shaft yoke must be changed over to the 400 and the shaft usually gets cut 1 inch depending on rear end squat on the car in question.

Not to argue , but ive had my hands on 3- BOP TH400 swaps. I have yet to see the stock mount come close to fitting. The HR Parts mount is the best way to go.

I did . But most had to either shorten the shaft(most common) or the yoke.:)

just put mine in (400) - took a few minutes :)

My drive shaft is real close, but i checked it at all rear positions and it has play in all spots. Used stock GN crossmember and aftermarket 2004R mount - easy as that. i just had to put some big heavy-duty washers on the mount bolts and oblong the holes. But as far as i can see, shouldnt have a problem at all. If you dont like cuttin and stuff, buy all that other crap, but only took me short time anyway and all i bought was a new mount.
