Would the older bowling green with the 2.5 inch neck be comparable to say a thunder fab or a v4 it has 23 rows thanks John

hey i was doin a search so decided to bring this thread back up, im aobut to install my 2.5 neck on my BGC 23 row hoping its been a bottle neck on my car. I've heard its a pretty great intercooler with its weight being the main downfall. I've run 11.9 at 114 with only 20-21 psi and a 19* street chip with no TC l/u so its definatly up to the task. I know a local guy here in houston that has been mid 10s with the BGC and a 2.5" neck, so i would say it is as good as the thunder fab or v4:cool:

Yep, JD is correct on that one. Hopefully I can teach him to spell "definitely" though... C'mon JD, you're in college now...;)

He and I both know Chris McDade, who has gone 10.63 @ 127 with that very same intercooler.
I also ran it on my old car, but I didn't have the bigger, smooth transition neck that y'all do, and I still went 11.91 @ 112 w/ 17psi on a stock turbo.

It's a good intercooler, that I would say is comparable to the CAS V4, although it looks more "stock" than the V4. It hangs down low though, so you have to adjust the scoop for street vs. track.
I installed a 12" electric fan within the shroud to push air over the cooler continually, which seemed to work well, and keep the air charge down lower.

My old one is for sale w/ the fan for $500, from the guy that bought it from me, since he sold his GN.

I went 11.30@119 with a BGC stretch and I was handicaped because I couldnt run the scoop d/t clearance issues. I ran those numbers a a high mile stock long block.
I would say the BGC IC's are way under valued on this board. That sucker was $800 back in the day.

I forgot to mention that the one I had came with the 2" neck. The 2.5" neck was an option and when I was thinking of buying one new they said the 2.5" neck was for guys running turbos with 2.5" outlets. BGC told me that the 2.5" neck had nothing to do with the flow of it. That might not make sense but if you was looking at a BGC intercooler you'll see what they mean. The 2" vs the 2.5" only has to do with the inlet into the neck and not the neck itself. The necks them selves are the same size. If you have a turbo with 2" outlet the 2.5" version of the IC wouldnt be worth the price of the 2" to 2.5" transition hose.

Haha yeah didn't proof read it too well. Spelling "definitely" with an "a" has been one of those things I've done since I was a kid for some reason. Hard to break that habit. :D
