Interior light question

On the center console of an 86 T Type should the drive indicator light up? Same question for the dimmer or headlamp switch light?

yes on the console and no on the other 2.

How is the bulb accessed without breaking anything?

Take the shifter plate off and remove the cover above the light.

How does the shifter plate come off. Does it have tabs holding it in? I tried gently prying the plate up from the sides and front with a plastic pry bar with no luck. Felt like something was going to snap.

Pull out the ashtray and remove the 2 screws there then remove the 2 7mm screws on the shifter light cover. Reach under to remove the socket. Just be careful cause the plastic may be brittle from age.

You will also need to remove the shifter handle. It's held on by a u shaped clip under the handle on the right side.

You'll most likely find the wire for he bulb has been cut by the shifter mechanism too.
