Which do you prefer and why? I have a Droid now and I love a lot about it, but the camera sucks, I have an Ipad, so the iphone seems easier to navigate, could do away with my ipod in the car I guess.

Opinions?

Sent from my DROID2

I'm not an apple guy so I might not be the guy to ask. I have an at&t inspire. Runs android. 8mp camera that takes great pix and video. I'm still kinda new to the app aspect but I am catching on. It has a 4.3 inch screen. I stream all kinds of stuff. I keep a couple movies on there for if I get board or have to wait somewhere. I have no complaints.

I have an Iphone. I enjoy using it all the time. Its easy to navigate, acquire music and movies. Apps are easy to download. The screen is really bright and has a great picture. I have never had a droid, but a couple of my friends do. The only benefit I see over the Iphone is you can get Apps for free in most cases. It is also hackable... The Iphone OS is very restricted in that area. But other than that, the droid has just as good of a picture as the iphone, the camera is as nice.

Thats my evaluation of the two.

i fell in love with the Droid and was going to get one
BUT
My Wife's and nephew's Droid are acting up a lot (software issues)
My Wifes was reset twice and still ended up getting a replacement and my nephew just got his replacement.
BTW My Wife DID NOT DOWNLOAD a single application onto her phone don't know about my nephew.

i just upgraded to a BlackBerry and to tell you truth the phone function is secondary to all the other stuff this contraption can do.

Thanks. Just noticed you guys posted. I have Tapatalk that I monitor this forum on, no notification or no email notification either. Facebook doesn't send notification all the time either. Verizon told me to remove the battery and put it back in once a day to reboot it.

The main thing I don't like about the Iphone is it doesn't support Adobe Flash and I use a bunch of sites that do. Only thing holding me back I guess.

If someone has never downloaded any apps, they are missing out..there are so many apps that make life simple..I have gasbuddy that tells me the cheapest gas station near me..I have call blocker to block any 800 numbers or whoever I want..I have waypoints for fishing spots with radar,I have speedview for HUD and cool stuff for driving,I have poweramp for all my music that has a 10 band eq that runs my whole sound system in my camaro (no radio at all)..Pandora for free music of your choice,I have free music download to download any song in seconds for free, not to mention all the other apps to mess with people,I can call you and use your wifes number as a caller id and change my voice to a woman..lol..

I say Droid wins out of the 2 easy..

I have a Droid 2 and dont care for it or Verizon anymore. Phone freezes, shuts off, its slow and randomly takes off and dials random numbers in my phone. Switching to an IPhone in a couple weeks.

I had call blocker on my HTC Evo and it would freeze the phone up. I have not had an apple phone yet. The android stuff is open source code but there
are still bugs in some programs. Gmail and any other google based stuff works really well.

I've had the Iphone on Verizon for 3 months now, awesome no complaints at all, way better then any Blackberry. My wife is on her 3rd droid now, from software problems, screen issues to locking up. She is not happy and switching to a Iphone.

My buddy has a Droid and I have an iPhone 3g. He has had all the same complaints as people on here with the freezing and going slow. I loved my iPhone until firmware 4.0 came out. They completely screwed anyone that had bought a phone (or touch, I don't know about that though) before iPhone4. The phone was painfully slow. You would swipe the screen or touch an app and it would literally take 1-2 minutes to respond. I went back to the old firmware and it's good as new again. My advice is DON"T UPDATE on Apple.

iPhone 4 hands down.. All the rest are just wannabes. Just the fit and finish speaks for itself. The droids look like there are designed for teenagers

I had iPhones, then Blackberry then Droid and am now back to iPhone. iPhone has better stability, better pictures, video, music. And best of all -- EASE OF USE is #1 on the iPhone. Droid is a wannabe and wouldn't go back.

Well I got to play around with my buddies Iphone 4 side by side with my Droid 2.

Almost completely different animals.

Iphone Pros:
Easier to navigate (maybe to me cause I have an Ipad)
More apps (that I find interesting anyway)
Less likely to have issues (from reviews)
Itunes
Battery Life

Iphone Cons:
Verizon can't do a damn thing with the phone, if something does happen, you gotta send it to apple.

If you don't have the apple car insurance, they charge you just to talk to you on the phone. (had this happen with my Ipod)

Not near as many Free apps as Droid

Droid Pros:
Tons of free apps
the FREE navigation is hands down better than the iphone's paid or even my TomTom

I was able to import my Itunes Library to my phone :D

Droid Cons:
Battery Life
My Droid 2 had keyboard issues (just once in a while)

SO, they each have their place. My goal was to get rid of my Ipod and TomTom and get down to one device in my car except for XM radio.

It was time to upgrade phones yesterday and after much deliberation I went with another Droid. The HTC Thunderbolt. It has 40 gigs of storage, I was able to put my Itunes library on it. I hope I don't regret it.

They really are both great platforms and I like both, but only need one.

For me the Navigation on the Droid was what did it for me. The HTC also has a LOT better camera and records video in 720P (the Iphone may as well I don't know)

Thanks for all the info and opinions everyone.

Near as I can tell, that thunderbolt is the verizon version of the at&t inspire and the sprint Evo. I love my inspire. I have an app that searches and downloads music, one that has coupons for things I never even thought of using a coupon for, pandora is great and the movie player is just ridiculous to me. I download and watch all kinds of stuff. and it even makes phone calls

I have had my droid x on verizon since it was released last july and I have not had any problems what so ever. No regrets here.

The issue with trying to compare is that Droid OS is tweakable by phone manu so you end up with new phones avail but with diff OS versions. The iphone folks can tell you what a small OS change can do - a lot!

Im using iphone 4 and while under no illusions that Android is better all the time in every way I CAN tell you the iphone is over rated in some ways.

BB sucked for me but have not tried the most recent models (similar to droid/iphone). Lots of mainboard issues, firmware problems, and really crippled unless on dataplan. Iphone/Droid are still pretty usable without data plans as they manage connectivity automatically much better. BB does have good email management though.

One feature I had on all my old crappy non-smart phones is the ability to send contacts or get contacts via SMS and add to my contacts. The other is the option to bluetooth files - especially photos. Iphone really sucks for both of those not being available to me.

When Google gets OS version control sorted for Droid phones it will ease some of the droid issues IMO.

Short answer: I like iphone but could do just as well with Droid phones. But have some issues. Prefer both over BB.

One cool thing: iphones over here are unlocked already and have a sim slot. :)

Question more Droid users:

How do you upload music to your phone? Does it play MP3s?
The reason I ask is because I hate the whole importing of my mp3s to iTunes which then converts them to mp4, syncing, etc. I would like to just drag and drop mp3s, pictures, etc without having to mess with a stupid program like iTunes.

Forget trying to use iTunes with 2 different phones on the same computer. This is just a ton of trouble for me.

you couldn't pry this Iphone from my cold dead fingers....I hated Apple for the longest time, but when it came down to it, the ability to have my Ipod, a great camera, phone, and overall work tool all in one, I can't find anything I dislike, except for the inability to talk and surf at the same time with Verizon.

Its never dropped a call, locked up, malfunctioned period. The apps are great, if you use them correctly, and the user interface is so smooth and easy to use.

My wife gives me crap for being on it the whole day, but it has seriously taken the place of my Ipod, calendar, TV, and 95% of laptop functions.

I use an app where I put in the song, or the group or artist and it downloads it to my phone. Then I have a music app that I play that has a random play function. All music I like and no commercials. Though the pandora app is pretty cool to though it has commercials.

I haven't even tried to put music on my phone I just download what I want so I'm not even sure if it plays mp3 or not.

Now, my children have ipods and they seem to get along with multiple ipods on one computer. Though in the last month my son got a new laptop for his birthday so that might have solved any problems they were having but no one complained when they were using our family desktop.
