Dumb question, sorry, but does the stock turbo get cooled by either oil or water ?

lubricated and thus cooled by oil..... I know that sounds stupid, but there are water-cooled center section turbo's.... just not on TR's or TTA's.

Not being a wise-guy, just wanted to add some info in case that's what you were thinking.

I can imagine the nightmare plumbing a water cooled section would be.

Most of us plug the oil pipe from valvecover to turbo...

I have not done this yet but I now have two kn filters... one for the oil plug valve and one for the place were the oil pipe goes from the pass valvecover...

Where does the turbo get the oil when you plug the oil pipe ?

And... can you have two filters like in my description or must you have just one ? In that case... I have bought one to much.

The one that gets plugged is not for lubrication or cooling, but rather emissions control.

The oil feed line goes from the block to the center section.

BTW, on the TTA there is a hole in the hood insulator so that the PS vent/scoop can supply outside air to the area of the turbo.

HTH,
Tom
