Is there anything tying engine and trans to VIN??

Said another way, how can I confirm that the engine or trans are original to that car??

Do a search Bob. Big post somewhere on it within the last two or 3 months.

Anyway the tranny number is on a boss horizontal just behind the linkage area drivers side just above where the pan meets the tranny case, you can't miss it. Font is about 10 or so for the numbers, partial VIN last digit number.

Engine is vertically stamped in a small about 8 font real hard to see.

You need a rag, cleaner, flashlight, jack the car up with jackstands a bit and it is on a vertical boss about opposite the proportioning valve facing the back of the car I think. About the same height as the motor mount bolts. Boss I think is on the face where the tranny and motor meet. Drivers side.
