What would be the best way to find an unmolested 87-93 LX 5.0 Mustang hardtop? Not interested in the e-bay route and most stuff I've found so far is modded out the yang or riced out. Where are all the nice ones?

You can still find the Coupes (trunk cars) in good shape occasionally.
But rarely a nice 5.0 w/o spending nutty $$$, or needing dericeification.


You'll need to descalate your goals to finding a nice non-V8 Coupe,
straight out of Grannytown USA (Iowa/Utah), ready for your build.

They are out there you just have to keep your eye's open and give it some time. I found mine after looking for about 6 months. It needed some attention (header gaskets, MAF, tune up) but I only paid 4k. Time and patience.

I posted this for sale for my friend not long ago, he traded it for a truck and I traded a 95 GT for it and an 87 LX the other night. The LX is sold. Im only selling this to get another car that I want. The guy he traded with hasnt done much with it, other than paint the blue hood white (rattle can but looks better). My friend drove this car 30-40 miles round trip to work daily for 3 months without a problem.

88 GT, 5 Speed, grey interior. Stock car other than no cats, some Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers and a K&N Filter. It had been pulled by the core support at some point in it's life, so when he got the car he had one put on, it needed a bumper cover and header panel so he got new ones for it. The car is white with a blue racing stripe, bumper is unpainted, paint is flaking in places. It needs paint. Has a rust spot on the roof around the hatch area, appears to be from bad paint prep as the rest of the car is rust free and according to the title history has been in Florida all of it's life. Has 10 hole wheels.

Has a good shifting T5 that I sold and helped install a few months ago. Has brand new headlights with clear corners, has LX taillights. Car needs minor things other than cosmetic such as speedo doesnt work (usually an easy fix on these cars), heater core is bypassed, and the driver seat has the usual lean to it. Car needs some work but is a good starting foundation. With the prices on fox body Mustangs right now, this is an easy way to get started on one! Car runs cool and runs strong! No knocks or smoking.Have Sony CD Player to go with it, just needs wires and install.

NC_GN_Man here on the board has a very nice stock original 93 Black w/ fairly low miles. HE wheels and deals a little so he may part with it.

Their out there, just depends on how much you want to spend and the condition it is in. As said above check out CL and watch the many Mustang boards for them.

5.0 are kinda hard to find unmolested. Like a GN or T they've been beat to death but nice examples do exist. Good luck on your search.
