Know anything about restraining orders?

Different everywhere I suppose. But here you file a motion with our Circuit Court Clerk's office since they're nothing more than a court order. You fill out your motion stating sworn facts and a hearing is held without attorneys. You state your reasons to a Circuit Judge and if finds grounds to issue a court order then it's issued. It'll be served by either a deputy sheriff or court baliff/officer and entered into LEIN. If it's violated by EITHER party they will be arrested. If they leave before the police arrive a report will be written and forwarded to the issuing judge for review. If he finds it's been violated may issue a bench warrant for that person's arrest.

The order automatically expires after 1 year.

A restraining order is a legal document with all the holding power of any other piece of paper. You may want to work out the problem prior to involving the law. Many people take the order as a challenge and react accordingly. Try to resolve it first, if not, hire a hit man. LMAO j/k Mark

In some southern states, you would go *if the circumstances are urgent* and get a TRO Temporary Restraining order.. Usually for domestic parters that are abusive.. For a longer term ie: 1 year you would need to file it down at the courthouse to be heard by a judge to show fact in the issues. Then like the michigan deal a sheriff would issue it to the receiving person and then the offender or the defendant cannot violate it while it is in effect..
