There is a rubber gasket there but its not pressed tight between the up-pipe and turbo, about a half inch gap. The 3 bolts feels super tight. It smokes through there at startup and if i put my hand over it, i can lightly feel warm air coming out and i can hear the exhaust leak clicking. Should i spray some penetrating lube on the bolts over night and see if i can tighten those bolts so the gasket is pressed tight in that joint?

i hope there isn't actually a rubber gasket in there- it would melt in no time.
is it leaking between the up pipe and the flange on the ball socket, or between the flange and the turbo?

It should have agasket surface like the one shown in this pic between turbo and uppipe...

Ya sorry its not rubber, its what is exactly in that picture. How would i go about tightening those studs, do i need to heat it up with a torch or run my turbo for a bit

should be able to tighten the nuts on the studs... or may have to replace the studs

i had that gasket go out on my car- no parts store could find a listing for it. i wound up getting a gasket that was close and hogging out the bolt holes into slots to make it work. cost me all of $3 and about 10 minutes to put it in and it took care of that annoying "pffft pffft pfft" sound under the hood.

i just had to do the same thing...couldnt find that gasket and found one close and opened up the holes. some vendor on this site sells the right one im sure.
