Leaving converter locked while deccelerating

Does leaving the converter locked while decellerating do any harm? I noticed that since I installed a higher stall converter (about 2800 stall) last year, if the converter is unlocked, there is almost no engine braking....the engine pretty much returns to idle once I let off the gas. But if I leave it locked, it decelerates like it were a manual trans left in gear.

Any detrimental effects to the converter or trans if I leave it locked?
