You know how when you get a ticket they always make you sign something acknowledging you got a ticket? Well they forgot this time. Do you think i have grounds for dismissal?

Not a lawyer by far but yea probably lol. I know a ticket lawyer could probably get you out of it.

X2 It's not admitting guilt. It's just saying that you received the ticket. If the reporting officer doesn't appear, usually it is dismissed. Might just get lucky. lol But dude, don't take anything for granted...It will eventually catch up with you if you don't act on it first showing iniative. Although, sometime this can back fire.... K...I'll shut up now.:p

Wording may vary a bit for your state, but in Nebraska, the officer always says something along the lines of "By signing the ticket, you are not admitting guilt, but merely promising to take care of the citation by either appearing in court on the specified date, or waiving the right to a trial and paying the fine before the court date."

So basically, if you didn't sign anything, you didn't promise to do anything. Which by itself isn't much, but if you can find a good snake of a lawyer, you might get away with it.

On the other hand, the lawyer would probably cost more than the ticket, so what's more important? Your current bank account or your future insurance rates?

IMO you dont wanna get tangled up between a lawyer and the law for something so petty. That equals one good guy sandwiched between two sets of crooks. Just pay it and move on with your life *SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE*

I don't think I would involve a lawyer but I would go to traffic court and challenge the ticket. Use a defense along the lines that the police officer wasn't very efficent in his duty's that day and possibly could have pulled over the wrong car. If he could make a mistake about having you sign the ticket then he could make a mistake about which car he pulled over.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not a lawyer but I did stay at a holiday inn last night.

Your screwed on the signature thing but

I have a good traffic lawyer. Specially if court is in Bridgeview.

x2. A traffic lawyer will get that dismissed. They specialize in calling into question the credibility of the officer and getting tickets dsmissed on technicalities.

i'ven ever had to sign a ticket.. in fact, i don't think MN tickets have a place to even sign.

Traffic lawyers are a waste of money. If you f#$@ed up and got caught pay up and move on but if you think you did nothing wrong then fight it. Here in California all Mr ticket fighter does is ask the cop what happened and then asks the cop if he has any issues with his client getting traffic school. It's a scam really...

Just noticed that it's only $27 more to take the traffic school, and not have the ticket on my record. This has to be cheaper than a lawyer, who could end up getting you the class anyway. The class is only 4 hours. Only thing is it says "you may be eligible" and I'm not sure how to know if I'm eligible.

Depends what the ticket is for. If its a crazy ticket like 25+ over or drag racing. Then I would spend the $300 for my lawyer to get rid of it and keep it off my record. If its something stupid pay it and go to the class they offer

Here in NJ, we don't make drivers sign for tickets. We write them out and hand it over to him/her.

I even issued a few by mail. If I'm out on a traffic post and have to detour traffic, most drivers get annoyed because they have to go a differernt route and wind up giving me the finger. So I radio in their plate number, have the DMV record printed and they get a gift via certified mail .

Remember the power of the pen

17 over in light traffic.....67 in a 50

Did you get choice to pay by mail? If so pay it, you will get supervision and then keep it cool for 6 months:biggrin:
You will be way better just paying that and taking the class than getting a lawyer involved. Make sure they give you supervision.

"Eligibility" here in CA is determined based on how recent your last visit to traffic school was. I believe if you have attended in the last 18 months on another violation, you cannot attend again and have to accept the point deduction on your record.

If you were unaware of what was meant by eligibility, you probably haven't attended before, and are therefore eligible.
